Iowa Partners in Efficiency Award
The Lean Government Collaborative and the Iowa Business Council (IBC) announce the creation of the “Iowa Partners In Efficiency Award”.
To be presented for the first time in January 2010, this annual honor will recognize the employee(s) or work unit in any political subdivision of local, county, or state government that, through the use of Lean tools and techniques, significantly and measurably increase productivity and promote innovation resulting in the improvement of delivery of public services to the benefit of the citizens of Iowa and the private sector.
The award will:

publicly acknowledge and highlight outstanding efforts at efficiency, productivity, cost avoidance, and waste elimination in government;

improve regulatory processes and performance targets;
-
drive economic competitiveness;
-
foster better work environments; and,
-
develop leaders and innovators with a bias for action.

“The Iowa Business Council applauds the visionary state agencies that have conducted Lean events, the results of which are providing significant benefits to their departments and the constituencies they serve,” said IBC Board Chair Mel Haught, President & CEO of Pella Corporation. “With the advent of the Partners In Efficiency Award, we hope to encourage continued use of Lean Enterprise in the public sector as an initiative that consistently succeeds in producing effective results.”

Award nominations will be accepted from July 1 – September 30, 2009.

Representatives of the Lean Government Collaborative will judge the entries.

Finalists will be selected November 16, 2009.

The winner will be announced during IBC’s 24th Annual Partnership Meeting on January 25, 2010.
